Air America Ground Crew Caps

The Ground Crew Cap

These are generally a white or green cotton baseball cap. Points to look for:

• Cloth headband made from same material as the cap
• Air America or CAT emblem is usually stitched through the cap itself but may be on a separate patch
• No grommets or brim decoration

We've not yet seen copies of this cap.  The white caps were worn by supervisors, lead men and chiefs. The green caps were apparently worn by ground crew including baggage handlers, and possibly some non-flying personnel.  I have been told that the green caps were sometimes called the "coolie cap" in an affectionate manner.
