The Grey "Bus Driver's" Hat This is the formal uniform cap. Points to look for:
- Removable gray top with label printed on sweatshield
- Small Air America button on side (see photo)
- Sterling Silver Badge on front with single post
- Silver cap cord/chin strap
- Captains will have the beautiful bullion bamboo leaves on the brim
Copies of this cap were made for the movie Air America. I haven't seen one but from the photos are very similar. My best guess is that they do not have the Air America side-buttons. Be careful.
Did you know that this hat was also made without the bamboo leaves on the brim for all other crew and pilots below the rank of Captain. I don't have photos of one but have seen them in original war-time footage. If anyone can find me one or photos of one I'd greatly appreciate it!
